CASE: Sanoma and Urheilusanomat
Using eye-catching illustrations is a great way to set any business apart from its competitors. In this case study, I present how my illustrations were used to differentiate an influential Finnish weekly sports magazine from its competitors.
Sports magazines in general don't use a lot of illustrations and instead rely heavily on editorial photography delivered by international stock photo agencies, but Urheilusanomat had the courage to walk its own unique path.
Sanoma is a big consumer media and learning company in Europe. It's the market leader in Finland and it publishes the major newspapers and magazines in the country. I worked for its biggest daily newspaper Ilta-Sanomat and its weekly sports magazine special Urheilusanomat.
During the years I worked for these medias, I created disruptive visuals using distinct illustrations on the covers and in articles.
